About the Progam: "A Symphonic Powerhouse of Patriotism and
Passion"
Marina is recognized as an international award winning concert pianist and composer. Over 300,000 fans attending her last concert tour in Central and Eastern Europe. Now she will appear in her first national Public Televsion concert special with the 120 member ensemble of the highly acclaimed West Point Band and world famous West Point Cadet Glee Club. The program has been specially orchestrated to fully showcase the symphonic power of this ensemble performance.
Marina’s heroic story of challenging ethnic extremism with her musical message of unity and tolerance during the Yugoslavian civil wars was the inspiration at West Point for the “Unity Through Diversity” concert program. This concert celebrates America's patriotism through the strength of its unique cultural, racial and religious diversity which is unlike any other country in the World. The concert is a mixture of well known patriotic themes with Marina's original compositions that seamlessly blend diverse rhythms and melodies into a classical cross-over and pop style.
The "Unity Through Diversity" concert was filmed LIVE in high definition (HD) at historic Eisenhower Hall on the campus of West Point for national broadcast on Public Television (PBS) Stations. The program was directed by Emmy award winner George Veras who also directed the highly popular YANNI PBS Concert Programs (Yanni: Live at the Acropolis, Live at theTaj Mahal, Live at the Forbidden City, Live at Royal Albert Hall). Audio was produced and mixed by the "Dean of Television Music Sound", 19 prime-time Emmy Award Winner Ed Greene with projects such as the finals of American Idol, Academy Awards, Grammy Awards, Tony Awards, Kennedy Center Honors, openning and closing ceremonies of the Summer and Winter Olympics and specials with Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond and Bette Midler. "Unity Through Diversity" is currently being broadcast all across the country on Public Television (PBS) Stations as a 60 minute concert special and a 90 minute pledge program. Also, the full length 2 1/2 hour version of the concert will be available on both DVD and in a twin CD set through your local PBS Stations.
The full-length filmed production included additional footage of the West Point Cadets and scenes from the beautiful West Point campus. The stage design incorporated the well known image of the West Point campus landmark, the Battle Monument at Trophy Point.
Marina has been greatly moved by the ethnically diverse sights and sounds of America that is reflected in the rich multi-cultural heritage of its people and proudly maintained in thousands of neighborhoods across the country. Marina believes that America is a living monument to the strength of "Unity Through Diversity" due to the great American ideal of liberty for all, regardless of race, creed or culture. This concert program will celebrate this message through its music and the diverse images of the magnificent men and women that comprise the Corps of Cadets at West Point.
